Calculator Item Description
Curtain Width

If the curtain is to be mounted onto the wall above the doorway then your required curtain width will be the width of the doorway opening plus about 100mm extra to allow for a good seal around the edge.

If the curtain is to be mounted within the door frame itself then your required curtain width is simply the width of the opening.

SIzes must be entered into the calculator in millimetres only. For example 2.1m would be entered as 2100

Curtain Height

If the curtain is to be mounted onto the wall above the doorway then your required curtain height will be the height of the doorway opening plus about 100mm extra to allow for a suitable fixing point above the door.

If the curtain is to be mounted within the door frame itself then your required curtain height is simply the height of the opening.

SIzes must be entered into the calculator in millimetres only. For example 2.1m would be entered as 2100

Do you need a rail

If you are replacing an existing PVC curtain you may not need a new rail. As long as the existing curtain is the hook-on type and the rail is intact then you can select NO for this option.

For all other curtains, including new installations, you need to select YES. The hanging rail is an integral part of the curtain kit and the curtain cannot be fitted without one.

Fixed or sliding Curtain

For the fixed system each indivual PVC strip is secured in place by hooks on the hanging rail. You can easily walk through the curtains but you cannot slide the PVC strips to one side. During the summer months the strips can be unhooked and removed.

The sliding curtains strips can be moved to one side when not required, or when delicate objects need to pass through the doorway.

PVC Type and Thickness

1) PVC Thickness
- For curtains of 3m high or less, 200 x 2mm PVC is normally fine.
- For 3m to 5m high the 300mm wide PVC is recommended.
- For Curtains over 5m high we recommend the 400 x 4mm PVC

2) PVC Type
- Standard: Ideal for workshops, offices, warehouses & shops.
- Freezer: Stays flexible down to -40c, perfect for walk-in freezers.
- Antistatic: Designed for 'Clean Rooms' and data centres.
- Ribbed: Best for areas where there is forklift truck traffic.
- Welding: Protects employees from welding flash & sparks etc.

Overlap Type

A curtain with a maximum overlap will have slightly more PVC hanging in the doorway, this creates a better barrier between you and the elements but costs a little more. Maximum overlap is between 80% and 95% depending on Strip width.

A curtain with a minimum overlap won't have as much PVC hanging in the doorway, and therefore not as much protection, but will be cheaper and easier to walk through. Minimum overlap is between 40% and 60% depending on Strip width.

Edge Warning Strips

Choose YES for this option if you want the two outermost strips of PVC on your curtain to be made from bright red PVC. This enhances health and safety by highlighting the edges of the doorway and so making it easily visable to forklift truck traffic.
